This course provides a guide for cleaning and disinfecting many home medical products as well as the principles behind a variety of cleaning and disinfection procedures. To successfully complete this course, you must attain a minimum score of 80% on the final exam and complete the course training survey. Learning objectives: 1. Describe the cleaning and disinfection processes for HME equipment; 2. Explain the differences between sterilizers, disinfectants and sanitizers; 3. Explain the distinctions between the risk of transmitting infections and the different methods of cleaning non-critical, semi-critical and critical items according to the Spaulding Classification system; 4. Explain the requirements for an equipment cleaning room; 5. Identify the reasons for wearing different types of personal protective equipment; 6. Explain the importance of material safety data sheets (MSDS). Continuing education: VGM Education is authorized by IACET to offer 0.1 CEUs for this program.
